Podcasting has been a huge change in my life. I started my first podcast in December 2014 and since then it’s been a straight line up for my confidence, growth, and business performance.
I am currently doing 2 different podcasts in the “Management and Marketing” space as iTunes would define it, and you can check out more about both of them below:
Rogue Startups Podcast – This was my first show and one that I originally did by myself. It was to be an interview style show much the same as an Entrepreneur On Fire. However, I quickly realized that the vast majority of shows are much better with a co-host. Right around the time of that realization I hooked up with a previous guest of the show, Dave Rodenbaugh, and he came on as my co-host.
Dave is the owner of a couple of very popular WordPress plugins and Recapture, a eCommerce SaaS platform, and is an all-around great guy. We have a lot of fun on the show and each week we try to dive deep into on particular topic that is either troubling our business, or we think is a good opportunity for growth for us.
Audience – Our podcast at Castos is a realtime look into what it takes to grow a meaningful listenership for your podcast. Or as we like to look at it now, how you can create a meaningful podcast for an existing audience that’s searching for the content you can create.
In this show we talk with podcast industry leaders about both how to create great content, and about how to share that content with audiences that will intrinsically connect with it.
Lastly, but certainly not least, I started a company around helping businesses create awesome podcasts, without having to do any of the leg work behind the scenes. I started PodcastMotor in March of 2015 and it’s goal is simple: We will do everything from when a recording stops to when a show goes live. This includes editing, producing, audio engineering, show notes, episode artwork, media hosting…EVERYTHING.
If you’re serious about your online reputation or building an audience I can’t stress the value of podcasting enough. It is a unique time in the development of podcasting, it’s that rare time on the growth curve where the gain in popularity will become exponential here very quickly, but you can still hop on the bandwagon in the early stages. Imagine getting into blogging in 2008. I think that’s about where podcasting is today: established, but poised for massive growth.
If I can do anything to help you with your podcast please give me a shout. You can hit me up on Twitter @TheCraigHewitt or shoot me a message here. I’d love to hear from you and what you’re up to with your show.
